Air Compressed Engines
Air Compressed Engines
In a span of two short years, gasoline prices all over the world have increased dramatically. In the United States alone, the prices already climbed by more than 30 percent. This figure is even worse in some European and Asian countries as gas and fuel prices are continuously rising almost every month.
One possible solution to this problem is an air-powered car.
An air-powered vehicle is a type of car that runs on compressed air. This car mainly functions by storing compressed air inside its tanks. With a pressure of 4,351 pounds per square inch (psi), the air moves through the air injector which then causes the pistons and the crankshaft to move.
Air-powered car can go up to 200 kilometers (km) or about 124 miles at a speed of 95.5 kilometers per hour (kph). The tank can hold about 300 liters of air which can be refilled using a high pressured pump.
Several car manufacturers are also looking at the possibility of creating a hybrid version of this car. A hybrid air- powered vehicle car can run on compressed air alone at a speed of 60 kph. However, if it runs on a higher speed, it would require the use of fuels such as diesel or any other natural gas.
This technology is great solution to the rising cost of gasoline and fuel. Consequently, air powered vehicles, also reduce air pollution as it does not emit harmful gases.
